The Key Areas We Study

— Space, Time and the Entire Universe

We are curious about the big questions that arise in the study of cosmology, namely what is the fundamental nature of Dark Energy.

We look into the foundation of physics that brought forth a puzzle that explains many things yet leaves the universe with 96% of its content in the dark.

We examine the very frameworks of thinking that frames space, time and all that exists within. We are exploring Indigenous ways of knowing time and place to offer new lenses into what this can mean for a deeper understanding of the universe.

— The Deep Ocean

Our deep ocean is the epicenter of the people of Oceania. It is where our origin story starts and where exploration guided the development of humanityʻs cutting edge science and technology. Voyaging canoes are the rocket ships of our ancestors that enabled the furthest reaches of connection.

In our work, we study the dominant narratives around the ocean and offer ways for our global society to be aware of our connections to the deep. Half of the worldʻs oxygen comes from the living creatures in the sea and special rocks at the bottom of them. The balance of our global weather systems depends on the health of our ocean.

— Centering Indigenous Knowledge

The ancestral wisdom of the Indigenous Peoples across our planet is calling for us to listen.

Our modern times are craving for innovation that is rooted in the deep knowing of our places on this planet. Yet, dominant decisions makers donʻt quite know how to hear this.

Our work is to support our broader community to see the science and science, the culture and culture, the technology and technology that exists within our local communities, educational institutions and across science, technology, engineering and math.
